FATHER OF LIGHTS
It all takes place in the very far north
Where majestic dragons fly back and forth
And in the Land of the Midnight Sun
You’ll learn much before we’re done.
A long time ago and many years past
When time didn’t slip away so fast
There lived a very beautiful nature mother
She was one-of-a-kind and like no other.
She had forest green eyes the color of trees
Thick auburn-red hair down to her knees
Cascading down her back in spiraling curls
With highlights that shimmered like shining pearls.
This night was an extremely important one
In the magical Land of the Midnight Sun
As this nature mother was about to give birth
To the first human baby born here on earth.
Watching from the highest heaven above
His heart overflowing with the purest of love
Spirit Father of Lights sat on his great throne
Made of the purest diamonds and crystal stone.
His face radiated light as the full moon
His eyes were deep green like an emerald lagoon
His broad widening smile shined out so bright
Like the millions of stars he breathed out each night.
Ribbons of light spread across the sky
Like rainbow colored waves dancing on high
Beautiful neon colors spread far and wide
Until they covered the land from every side.
Legend calls this the Northern Lights sky
Saying it calms the soul like a mother’s lullaby
Father of Lights reached out his right hand
Picking up the globe of the motherland
It was tiny, so bright, so clean and pure
It resembled our world, only in miniature.
It was translucent white, like frozen crystal ice
With a transparent ring held perfectly precise
It encircled the globe and hovered just above
And held a secret message conveying his love.
Father of Lights stood up from his throne
Unfurling great wings as no others have known
Magnificent wings slowly spread open wide
Up, up they reached, then far out to each side.
With the tiny globe cupped in his right hand
He nodded his head and gave the command.
Northern Lights shot brilliant beams into the air
In magnificent radiance with none to compare.
Starlit galaxies lowered in heavenly clouds
Roaring thunder announced their presence so loud
Celestial waterfalls spilled from crescent moons
Flowing down to the land forming crystal lagoons.
Colorful cosmic dragons took to flight
Metallic scales shimmered in the moonlight
A super moon rose high and shown in full glory
And this was just the beginning of the story.
Animals of every kind, size, young and old
Knew the time had come of the story foretold
A human child was being born, a tiny son
Heavenly signs foretold this was thee one.
Silently sliding into the soft breeze
Father of Lights took flight with ease
Effortlessly he glided down to this little one
Being born in the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Softly radiating the light of his love
Soundlessly the Father hovered above
A now sleeping mama and her newborn child
Such beautiful innocence, so meek and so mild.
Unheard and unseen, with his strong right hand
He silently reached down and touched their land
He set the globe to the right of the babe’s head
Then he parted his lips and breathed over their bed.
From the stars on his breath the globe started to glow
As his finger touched a message only he could know
On the ring round the globe letters did now appear
That could be read only if one closely looked near.
The Father stepped back and in an instant was gone
Yet the globe’s glow continued to spread until dawn
Light engulfed the sleeping child, soaking into his skin
Radiating into his being, becoming part of him.
The glow continued to grow till it was every whereabout
Then up out of the globe shot a rainbow ribbon spout
The spout formed into a fountain of colorful neon wings
Of hummingbirds, twinkling stars, ribbons, and delicate things.
Up towards the heavens the fountain ribbons sped
Where the globe originally came from is again where it led
As it traveled up towards heaven’s highest peak past the sky
Father of Lights watched approvingly from his throne on high.
When the ribbon arrived Father greeted it with a smile
Admiring its beauty and its graceful style
“Well done”, his strong voice affirmed he was pleased
As the rainbow ribbon happily danced on the breeze.
Gently he touched the ribbon’s delicate winged tip
And out tumbled two tiny spirit dragons with a flip
Big round questioning eyes blinked up into his own
He tapped his right hand on the arm of his throne.
Two tiny dragons instantly obeyed, landed and sat
While the Father of Lights had with them a chat.
When they were done, Father waved his right hand
Continuing with all that was part of his plan.
So back down the winding ribbon at the speed of light
Went the two bitty creatures. It was quite the sight.
The bright winding ribbon was like a galaxy slide
With two tiny winged dragons enjoying the ride.
Twisting, turning, twirling in, out and around,
Down they slid to the Midnight Sun ground
At the end of their ride was the little globe all aglow
With tiny dragons spinning, it was quite a show.
The globe quickly spun around and off the dragons flew
Landing on tiny shoulders with a new job to pursue
Each dragon had been assigned to the human child’s shoulder
Where they would live from now on as the child grew older.
As we all know, in order to grow, the child needed to be fed
To live a healthy life he’d need both physical and spiritual bread.
At first, the human ate physical food supplied him by his mother
But as he grew his mother knew he’d soon need the other
What the human child was fed determined how he’d grow
In size, strength, and energy, and later what he’d sow.
As he’d grow the more he’d know. His own choices he would make.
So the type of food he’d choose to eat had quite a lot at stake
For, you see, these choices would fuel both his body and his mind
So what he’d choose to put inside must be the healthy kind.
While young, he’d need physical food, like milk, fruits, vegetables, bread
But the older him would also need spiritual words and thoughts instead.
The spirit dragons, though very small, also needed to eat
However, being spirits, spiritual food would be their treat.
What a spirit dragon was fed also determined how it’d grow
In size, strength, and energy, and later what it’d sow.
The human’s words and thoughts were the spirit dragon’s food
What he’d choose to feed his dragons would greatly affect their mood.
Starbright was a pure white dragon who lived on his right shoulder
Her job was to guide her human through life as he got older
Starbright, as a light spirit, was to feed on all things light
Kindness, gentleness, generosity, love, joy, truth, and all things right.
Shadow was a dark dragon who lived on his left shoulder
His job was to guide his human through life as he got older
Shadow, as a dark spirit, was to feed on all things dark
Lies, hate, pain, fear, envy, pride, selfishness, and all things sharp.
As the human child grew, each bite of food he would choose to eat
Would come with it a consequence for either winning or defeat
Healthy physical food would energize, build, and make him strong
Unhealthy food would tear down, drain, and feel very wrong.
As he grew, the same held true, for the spiritual food he’d eat
Which also fed his spirit dragons, so the same lessons did repeat.
Healthy thoughts did energize, build, and make strong Starbright
She thrived on positive words and thoughts, making her spirit light
Unhealthy words did energize, build, and make strong Shadow too
Through negative words and thoughts, his weight and heaviness grew.
As the human grew, his dragons grew, so all increased in size
As the dragon’s appetites increased, louder became their cries
Busyness crowded feeding time so sometimes they would fight
To consume enough food, often going well into the night.
An all-out spiritual battle began with a dragon on each shoulder
Whichever the human took time to feed would become much bolder.
As a grown adult, the human had to make a serious choice
Time had proven that now only Starbright would heed his voice.
The Shadow dragon seemed to have taken on a life of it’s own
He’d grown large, strong, loud, proud, and made his own throne.
One day, the human called up to the Father of Lights on high
“Father”, he pleaded, “Shadow’s grown far too heavy, I feel I’m going to die.”
Immediately, he felt the Father’s presence and the globe began to glow
He heard his mother’s voice softly retell a story only he could know.
She words recalled a special night, the night that he was born
A touch, a gift, and a glow that lasted through early morn.
The human closely examined the glowing globe with the ring
For the first time he discovered on it was written a secret thing.
He thought to himself, “How, for so long, could I have not seen
This message by the Father? I must know what these mean.”
Written in translucent emerald ice letters, only two words it read
FREE WILL - all at once he realized what the words said.
With conscious continued effort on the human’s part
He began to feed only Starbright straight from his heart
She so loved her human and she immediately responded
The more the human fed her, the more tightly they bonded.
This caused the dark Shadow to be contained in a cage
Where he thrashed and clawed, filled with hatred and rage
Sometimes he’d wake his human in the middle of the night
To whisper dark thoughts and lies to prove that he was right.
Though he sought to get out and fought fierce for a time
He couldn’t withstand the cleansing light in the human’s mind
As time passed and his human persisted
The dark Shadow shrank and the less it resisted.
Starbright stayed faithful and stood by his side
Her light illuminated all and showed there was nothing to hide.
To this legend’s message, please take heed...
The winning dragon is the one YOU choose to FEED.
*******
Think about it…
Consider the legend and where the two dragons stood
Who gave them the power to do as they would?
It’s inside our mind that spiritual battles take place
It’s been the same for the entire human race.
Our minds are fed by words we speak and thoughts we think
Positive lifts us up, negative makes us sink.
Throughout life, spirits clash, trials appear, battles rage
Every human born on earth has their own spiritual cage
Sometimes we open the door and lock ourselves in
Trying to fight alone a battle we can never win.
We each hold the key to our own door, a gift of true love,
The key of Free Will from the Father above.
While we cannot control everything that comes our way,
We do have Free Will to control what we think and say
We make the choice to invite thoughts to stay and play,
Or to simply demand them to go away.
